Events - Beyond Us

Hearts and minds and souls we possess,
Yet - events beyond us do occur.
You were in full control of your own world,
While I take care of a different world,
But we met and our world became one.

You wanted to be free and uninvolved,
So I tried and suffered alone, suppressing my love.
Until for a while we both succeeded and parted,
And you unfretted, enjoyed your freedom;
I live my own with loneliness in my heart.

Suddenly, time took over and changed our lives;
You and I once more became one.
I thought it was wrong and unfair,
But my heart cried and fought and struggled.
Now, only events beyond us take place.
